Single Sentence Movie Review was not always as well structured as it is today. Before the Single Sentence Computer™ came along and cleaned everything up, movie reviews and site news were jumbled together in a great big mess.
I considered importing all of the "Site News" postings from the old site into the new system... but not for very long. Most of the items refer to out-of-date pages on the old site that wouldn't hold any meaning now. Instead I've decided to do one post that summarizes the few relevant items that I'm not moving over...
Origin Story
This site basically started as an accident. I had a funny one-liner after I saw Mission: Impossible III. I added it to my blog, and soon I was posting all sorts of one-liners about the movies I saw. The idea seems to get bigger, the longer it goes on.
The Carnival of Cinema
This site has appeared in several editions of the Carnival of Cinema. The first appearance back in April of 2007 was for my review of The Color Purple.
Gordon McAlpin's Multiplex
Very early on in the life of this site I got a link from Gordon. His web comic, Multiplex, follows the lives of the employees at a movie theater. I can tell you from experience, yes, that is exactly what it is like to work at one. To this day that link still sends me a nice little stream of visitors, so I humbly swear cyber-fealty to Gordon.
Multiplex has a healthy dose of movie references and is very funny. Since you've found your way here, I assume both of those ideas appeal to you.
Project Wonderful
Project Wonderful is an banner advertising provider that is very big in the web comic community. I experimented with them a little bit last year. I had been hoping for more movie-themed banners to show up on my site, but I guess there just weren't a lot of them in the network. If I was a comic artist, though, I would definitely use them.
...That's it for news from the old site. There was also a post with some link love for other movie-themed sites, but those are going to get covered in an upcoming post.
